Patrón Profesional de Embarcaciones de Recreo

The Patrón Profesional de Embarcaciones de Recreo (PPER) is a professional qualification for holders of the Capitán de Yate. It allows you to work as an instructor for PNB and PER practical training, and to carry out other paid nautical activities within the limits set by regulation (e.g. up to 60 miles, or 150 miles with qualifying experience).

What the PPER allows

  • Vessels up to 24 m in length
  • Up to 60 miles from the coast (or 150 miles with 2 years' qualifying experience)
  • Day and night navigation
  • Work as instructor for PNB and PER practicals
  • Other professional nautical activities

Requirements

  • Be at least 20 years old
  • Hold the Capitán de Yate
  • Pass the exam set by the Dirección General de la Marina Mercante
  • Declare at least 50 days and 2,500 miles of navigation
  • Hold the required safety and radio certificates
  • Valid maritime medical certificate
